Brazilian presidential challenger Aécio Neves remains ahead of incumbent president Dilma Rousseff in voter support by a two percentage-point margin according to the latest election polls out this week. In polls from both the Ibope opinion research institute and the Datafolha institute, Mr. Neves, of the Social Democratic Party, would take 51% of the valid vote, versus 49% for Ms. Rousseff, of the Workers’ Party. The Datafolha poll showed Mr. Neves with 45% versus 43% for Ms. Rousseff, while 6% of respondents said they were undecided and 6% said they planned to nullify their vote. Similarly, the Ibope poll showed Mr. Neves with support from 45% versus 43% for Ms. Rousseff, with 5% undecided and 7% planning to nullify their vote. Ms. Rousseff led in a first round election Oct. 5, taking 42% of the vote, compared with 34% for Mr. Neves and 21% for Marina Silva of the Socialist Party. The latest polls were taken on Oct. 12-14 and have a margin of error of 2 percentage points. Brazilian voters are scheduled to vote in a second round election on Oct. 26.
